Nelsen purchased the former Gould Funeral Home in 2001. One of the oldest funeral homes in Hopewell, Gould Funeral Home was purchased by Ray and Agnes Gould from the Shanko family. Formerly owned by Service Corporation International, Nelsen returned the Gould Funeral Home to local family ownership. We are proud to continue the history of service pioneered by Ray and Agnes, both of whom were known for their caring and philanthropy in the Hopewell community. In 2002, Nelsen completely renovated the Hopewell Chapel, creating the area’s most spacious and modern funeral facility. From our intimate chapel to our comfortable staterooms to our public lounge, Nelsen offers unparalleled service. Flat screen monitors enable families to view complimentary Tribute DVDs, while our lounge allows us to cater visitations and receptions for our clients. Our staff continues to be active in the Hopewell community, with active membership and/or participation in Lions, Optimist, Rotary, Masonry, Moose Lodge, The Chamber of Commerce and Crater Community Hospice.
Located on N 6th Avenue, between Route 10 and Winston Churchill Drive (Rt 156), our facility is easily accessible to residents of Hopewell, Prince George and Chesterfield. |
